Behind the Cup

Grown between 2,100 and 2,300 meters in Ethiopia’s Sidama region, Malawo brings together carefully selected harvests from local smallholder farmers. Produced by Daye Bensa, this washed lot reflects the high-elevation growing conditions and attention to quality that distinguish the coffees of the region.

Farmlevel Story

Malawo takes its name from the Sidamic word for “honey” and comes from the Dadahe area of Ethiopia’s Sidama region. Here, Daye Bensa works with approximately 255 smallholder farmers whose harvests contribute to the coffee.

The surrounding landscape is marked by a local river and native trees closely associated with the Malawo area. Together, these details offer a glimpse of the place and the community behind this distinctive Sidama coffee.
