Farmlevel Story

Kirimahiga is everything we love about Kenyan coffee. Grown in the highlands of Murang’a and processed with meticulous care, it offers tropical Guava, soft Magnolia, and a clean White Tea finish. Crisp and expressive, it captures the character and clarity of Kenya’s highlands.

It’s grown in the rich volcanic soils of Murang’a County, located on the slopes of the Aberdare Range in central Kenya. The Kirimahiga washing station, also known as a factory, is part of the New Kiriti Farmers Cooperative Society, which includes hundreds of smallholder farmers. Most manage less than a hectare of land and handpick ripe cherries for delivery to the station.

Processing follows the traditional Kenyan washed method, which includes double fermentation, thorough washing, and slow drying on raised beds. This approach is known for producing coffees with exceptional clarity, vibrant acidity, and a distinct fruit-forward character.

Coffees from Kirimahiga are often celebrated for their complexity, with notes of berries, citrus, florals, and sometimes a wine-like brightness. Elevations range from 1,700 to 1,800 meters, and the region’s cool nights help slow cherry maturation, enhancing both sweetness and depth. Year after year, Kirimahiga delivers one of Kenya’s most sought-after profiles: clean, crisp, and consistently full of character.
