Behind the cup

Goro Muda offers a classic expression of washed Ethiopian elegance. Floral Jasmine leads the aromatics, followed by a sweet Simple Syrup softness and a lingering Peach-like finish. Bright, clean and deeply refined, it opens with clarity and settles into a silky, layered sweetness.

Each coffee is roasted to order. Orders ship in 1-2 business days.

Farmlevel Story

Sourced from more than 400 Oromo smallholders in Ethiopia’s Guji Zone, this washed heirloom lot delivers Jasmine florals, delicate Simple Syrup sweetness, and a lasting Peach Finish. Grown at 2,050 to 2,300 meters, it reflects the high-elevation clarity and refined structure that define Goro Muda.

Goro Muda is produced in the Harsu Haro Muda kebele of Uraga, one of the most remote and celebrated growing areas in southern Ethiopia. The region’s steep terrain becomes especially challenging during the nearly year-round rainy season, when roads turn muddy and impassable. Many farmers must travel up to 90 minutes by horse, mule, or donkey to reach the washing station, bringing their cherries during narrow windows of dry weather. Despite these constraints, the community’s steadfast dedication ensures consistently high-quality harvests.

More than 400 Oromo farmers contribute to this lot, cultivating heirloom varieties on small, diversified farms intercropped with false banana, maize, and native shade plants. The sandy loam soil is naturally fertile and rarely requires amendments, supporting healthy trees and expressive cup profiles. Coffee is central to cultural identity here, preserved across generations even as families navigate limited access to electricity, clean water, and education. Their resilience and deep agronomic knowledge produce coffees that continue to elevate Guji’s global reputation for exceptional flavor and clarity.
