Behind the cup

Produced by members of the Gikanda Farmers Cooperative Society in Nyeri, this coffee is grown between 1,600 and 1,900 meters. A traditional washed process enhances acidity and structure, giving the cup clear separation between fruit, sweetness, and body.

Each coffee is roasted to order. Orders ship within 2 business days.

Farmlevel Story

The Gichathaini factory serves around 800 smallholder producers, each contributing carefully cultivated cherry from nearby farms. Located near Mount Kenya, the region’s climate and elevation support slow development and concentrated flavor.

Processing at the factory is highly controlled, with a focus on clean fermentation and thorough washing. This approach preserves the defining characteristics of Kenyan coffee, particularly its structured acidity and clarity of flavor.

Varieties such as SL28 and SL34, originally selected for quality and resilience, continue to play a central role in shaping the profile. The result is a coffee that reflects both the cooperative system behind its production and the precision of its processing.
