Farmlevel Story

From the highlands of Santa Rosa de León Cortés, this washed Catuaí from Don Efraín “Macho” Naranja delivers a lively and refreshing cup. Juicy Tangerine and Pomegranate notes pop, finishing with a crisp Lemonade brightness that reflects the care and legacy behind this celebrated Costa Rican farm.

Finca Macho takes its name from the nickname of owner Don Efraín “Macho” Naranja. Don Efraín has been a coffee producer for 40 years, starting at just 14 when his father gifted him a small plot of land, sparking a lifelong passion. In 2004, he took over full ownership and, alongside his son, transformed the farm. They founded their own micro-mill, Santa Rosa 1900, and by 2010 began processing their own coffee.

Located in Santa Rosa de León Cortés at 1900 meters in elevation, the farm benefits from the ideal coffee-growing conditions of defined wet and dry seasons, great sun exposure, and slow cherry maturation, which enhances flavor. The farm cultivates several varieties: Caturra, Red Catuaí, Mocha, Bourbon, Gesha, and Typica. All of these thrive in rich, organic soil with meticulous agronomic care. Finca Macho is the heart of Santa Rosa 1900, earning both national and international recognition, including placements at the Cup of Excellence. We’re thrilled to share this bright, washed Catuaí with you.
