Behind the Cup
Grown between 1,900 and 2,100 meters in Ethiopia’s Oromia region, Duromina brings together heirloom varieties cultivated by members of the cooperative. Washed processing preserves the coffee’s fruit character and floral aromatics, allowing its bright, delicate qualities to remain clearly defined.

Duromina began in 2010, when 113 residents of Boto in Ethiopia’s Oromia region formed a cooperative with the goal of producing higher-quality coffee and improving their livelihoods. Its name means “to improve their lives” in Afaan Oromo, reflecting a mission that has guided the cooperative from its beginning.
With support from TechnoServe, Duromina built its first wet mill and gained access to agricultural training, business resources, and international buyers. Today, the cooperative has grown to more than 130 members who share farming knowledge and work collectively to maintain quality. Through that continued collaboration, Duromina has created greater economic opportunity for its members while building an international reputation for its coffee.
