Behind the cup

Bishan Dimo processes some of the highest quality coffees in the Guji region of Ethiopia. Sweeter notes stand out throughout the cup with an aromatic finish.

Farmlevel Story

The washing station Bishan Dimo is located in the Dendi Uddo kebele (ward) of the Odo Shakiso woreda (district) in the Guji zone in Ethiopia. It is set on three hectares of land and is slightly smaller than its sister washing station, Mulish. It primarily offers washed grade-one coffee. The coffee delivered to this station comes from surrounding farms at altitudes ranging from 1850 to 2050 meters above sea level, picked from indigenous tree varieties of the Guji area and disease-resistant varieties from the Jimma Agricultural Research Center (JARC). 

To ensure quality, the washing station trains farmers to pick cherries at the perfect time for optimal flavor. It also arranges transportation for the farmers to deliver their cherries to ensure they arrive at the station within a day for maximum quality. The washing station pays a premium to farmers who bring better coffee, encouraging them to improve their methods.
