Appropriately named "beehive," La Colmena sits perched on one of the highest points in the Santa Barbara region, Las Flores. Arturo Paz was inspired to name his farm after noticing the reoccurring honey-like sweetness in the coffees grown there.

Paz represents a generation of young coffee producers in the Santa Barbara region committed to producing world-class organic specialty coffee. Year-after-year Paz' La Colmena has placed in the Cup of Excellence. He is recognized as one of the top producers in the country and his coffee is a favorite at Verve.
Not only is Arturo an exemplary producer, but he is also a formidable cupper. Beyond overseeing his well-manicured lots of Yellow Catuai, Pacas, Bourbon, and now Gesha, Arturo is also responsible for quality control at his uncle's operation Beneficio San Vicente. This mill is where he and hundreds of other local farmers deliver their coffee to be processed and exported.
We believe the coffee experience is our responsibility from seed to cup. Coffee is our craft, our ritual, our passion. It drives us and inspires us. With this simple truth and responsibility we are bridging the gap from farmlevel to streetlevel.
