Various Smallholder Farmers

Three hours southeast of Yirgacheffe in the Oromia region of Southern Ethiopia, Uraga is a special woreda that serves as home to the Tabe Burka washing station. Run by Mr. Tadesse Edema, coffee plays a big role in the family’s story. His brothers, Girma and Dereje, are well known in the Guji zone for producing outstanding coffees as well, in Uraga and Ambela.
Tadessa Edema collects cherry from nearly 300 smallholders in the area. He pays the farmers in advance when harvest begins, to give more incentive for the quality of their production. The coffee is washed with water from the Burka river. It is then fermented for 24-36 hours. We hope you enjoy this beautiful offering from Southern Ethiopia.
We believe the coffee experience is our responsibility from seed to cup. Coffee is our craft, our ritual, our passion. It drives us and inspires us. With this simple truth and responsibility we are bridging the gap from farmlevel to streetlevel. We are verve. Made in santa cruz.
