This seasonal blend combines two very different tasting coffees from one very special place; Mersha Assefa’s wet-mill in the Chelelektu kebele of Southern Ethiopia. On high volume days the coffee is wet-processed and on low-volume days the coffee is dry-processed. We fell in love with both and Mersha Mersha was born.

This 50/50 blend celebrates both the citrusy, floral flavors of the washed-processed coffees and the fruit-forward, berry-like hallmarks of a well-executed natural from no less than the very country where coffee was discovered.

While our single-origin offerings are roasted to highlight the unique and seasonal characteristics that make them individually special, our blends, on the other hand, promise balance and consistency year-in, year-out. But, sometimes... We just can’t help but mash-up what we think are two or three of our most delicious seasonal offerings to yield something with the uniqueness of a single-origin, and the consistency of a blend.

Alas, this seasonal blend combines two very different tasting coffees from one very special place; Mersha Assefa’s wet-mill in the Chelelektu kebele of Southern Ethiopia where are milled coffees harvested by 650 neighboring small-holder farmers.

Depending on daily delivery volumes, coffees are either “washed” (all layers of fruit mechanically removed, and soaked underwater before drying) using Chelelektu’s well-kept and high-volume wet-milling infrastructure.

Or, in the case of a low-volume day, coffees might be sun-dried (with all surrounding layers of fruit left intact) in small-batches on Chelelektu’s raised drying-beds. The two processing methods - although carried out with the same raw materials at the same place - yield two oh-so-different results.

This 50/50 blend celebrates both the citrusy, floral flavors of the washed-processed coffees and the fruit-forward, berry-like hallmarks of a well-executed natural from no less than the very country where coffee was discovered.
