STORY
As other coffee producers in Colombia, before growing coffee Maria Magdalena grew coca and the unstable and dangerous consequences of an illegal crop made her switch to coffee in the hopes of giving her family a safe livelihood. She has been a Cooperative member for six years and received her RFA certification thanks to a local FNC program in her municipality. Her commitment to environmental sustainability is witnessed through her care and proper conservation and fauna and flora in her farm, she has invested in proper wet milling and drying infrastructure. Aside from growing coffee she has a small business where she sells internet service to community members. Her children are also working in coffee with her and on their own one with coffee tourism and the other one has decided to further education and training in cupping.
