Behind the cup
From this cup we are given warm and decadent flavors that are perfect for someone that wants to find bold flavors in their morning coffee. Notes of cherry and dark chocolate bring a warm and cozy feeling, while toasted coconut adds a complex finish.
STORY
Catuai’s are a special variety of coffee that are sure to stand out and leave a lasting impression. Elvis Tineo grows this variety along with bourbon and caturra at his farm in the El Diamente area of Jaen. Elvis has been working to craft a high quality cup of coffee and through experimenting with fermentation and taking things to the next level.
The landscape of this region also allows for great coffee growing conditions. El Diamente has great natural water resources as well as protected forests. The soil in this area is supple and healthy. This soil allows us to enjoy a cup that has pronounced flavors, and balanced acidity and tarteness with a bold finish.
What is Catuai?
Catuai is a special variety hybrid of Mundo Novo and Yellow Caturra developed by the Campinas Agronomic Institute (ICA) in Brazil. Catuai is known for its small plant structure, which makes harvesting easier. Catuai derives from the Guarani language meaning "very good," which has proven to be the case since it was created in 1949.
