Behind the cup
Show stopping flavors and aromas that embody everything we love about a natural Ethiopian coffee. Drinking this coffee feels like eating a sweet treat of sugar covered strawberries.
STORY
This coffee is grown in the Gedeb region of Yirgacheffe, from which we find a large number of coffee cultivation. Farmers in this region often own smaller plots of land and grow coffee alongside other crops to maximize land use.
Coffees from this region are pungent, jammy, and characterized by their berry forward flavors. Chelichele is no exception to this. Natural fermentation of the coffee brings these qualities forward to give you a juicy and stone fruit-like cup.
To process coffees, farmers in the region take their harvest to Worka Chelichele washing station. The cherries are then sorted by hand, cherries that are too ripe or not ripe enough are thrown out to control quality. After the cherries are sorted, the coffee is laid out on raised drying beds for 21 days. From this process we get an exceptional and unique cup that is consistent with Ethiopia’s standard of production.
