The Colbran Estate Farm has a long history that starts in 1963 when Ben Colbran moved his family to Papua New Guinea. He purchased a 600-acre farm and began planting vegetables then eventually transitioned to growing fruit. The delicious produce grown at Colbran Estate Farm was always sought out at the local market. As their popularity grew, so did their savings. Eventually Ben was able to purchase a sawmill which got him another step closer to getting his coffee production up and running. Today, Ben’s farm is now one of the most notable coffee producers in PNG. In 1979 the farm was sold and Ben moved to Australia but his son, Nichol, stayed behind to continue the work on the farm in partnership with the new owner. In 1997, Nichol was able to purchase the family farm and become the owner and estate director of Colbran Estate.
