Behind the cup
This coffee is great for fans of previous years’ Santa Clara who are looking to branch out a little. Structured and well-rounded, this Gesha has all aspects we love about Guatemalan coffee. Maintaining a connection to the classic floral and delicate notes attributed to Geshas, this coffee will surely be a hit.
STORY
The Zelaya family has been producing coffee for over a century, and Luis continues to experiment with cultivation and processing. He popularized the greenhouse drying method, which combines raised drying beds with vented greenhouses for better control over the drying process. This coffee is slightly different from the typical Gesha grown in Central America. Visually, Gesha coffee beans are usually elongated and larger than most varieties. For four generations, the Zelaya family has owned and operated Finca Santa Clara, Bella Vista, and nearby Hacienda Carmona. These three Antiguan staples will remain forever linked not only by ancestral ties but also by the impeccable quality at the core of what they do.
