BEHIND THE COLLABORATION
Like all of the best things at Verve and in life, this partnership was born from a relationship. Matt Tilley, Verve’s Head Of Coffee Operations, is brother to Jacob Tilley, Young the Giant's founding member and guitarist. In addition to being brothers, the two are close friends and were dreaming of a way to collaborate. While catching up on the phone, the idea came into focus, and Same Folk Blend was born.
“Same Folk Blend is named after the last song of American Bollywood: the last sigh of an epic journey. It brings things back to the root of the root, where everything converges into one. Like the coffee, “Same Folk,” blends the flavors of far distant lands and ones closer to home, uniting everything under the same feeling.”

from all sales of Same Folk Blend will be donated to the Derek Venlet Scholarship, a fund dedicated to supporting music education.
FUNDING THE FUTURE
Derek Venlet passed away in the Spring of 2023 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Better known as Mr. V. by his students, he was a beloved jazz and marching band teacher at Irvine High School, where 3 of the Young The Giant band members attended, known for filling the space between notes with laughter and life lessons and for bringing out the very best in his students. We're honored to continue his legacy by supporting Mr. V's passion for music education.
