Grapefruit, Pomegranate, Lasting
After the passing of his father 10 years ago, his farm was divided between his children. Victor Berrera decided to make a growing shift for the finca and changed the varieties from Caturra and Typica to Tabi. He has planted 4,500 Tabi shrubs across his 3.5 hectares. El Tesoro is operated by Victor, his wife and roughly 8 to 15 pickers from the local community depending on the harvest size. Developed by Cenicafé in 2002, Tabi was introduced to the world as a cross between Timor, Typica and Bourbon. This unique combination of varieties boasted a plant resistant to leaf rust as well as superior flavor—fun fact: Tabi translates to “good” in the Guambiano, a native Colombian tribe dialect. With a crisp, grapefruit acidity and a dense, pomegranate sweetness, this lot will leave you wanting more.
