Coffees from Rwanda have candied fruit sweetness and acidity and have a ton of spices due to their influence and soil. Those that love dashing some cinnamon on top of their coffee can find it throughout drinking this coffee.
If you can remember the glistening foil of a chocolate-covered orange, you unwrap it, and you get both sweetness from the chocolate and the citrus of the orange. Likewise, this coffee tastes great as a cup but, when paired with your choice of creamer, those spices turn into cinnamon, reminiscent of Chai.

This coffee originates from a washing station in the south-central part of Rwanda, at Buf Cafe near Gikongoro. In the small village of Karaba, there are over 1300 members of this washing station contributing cherries from their harvests, bringing them to sort and process at Nyarusiza. The cooperative started in 2000, and in this region, they grow bourbon varieties.
Buf Cafe is a private washing station that processes cherries only from its two cooperatives, Nyrusiza and Remera. Nyrusiza is where this coffee is from and is owned and operated by the Muhirwa family and many contributing members.
Processing here follows the Rwandan standard, with a floating tank sort, 8-12 hour dry fermentation, second sort for weight using water shoots, then a 24-hour soak before hand washing and hand sorting, concluded by placement on raised drying beds.
