The first impression of La Candelaria is sweet and juicy cantaloupe. Its body has deep notes of rich brown sugar. Its finish is coating and syrupy in mouthfeel, like pouring maple syrup onto a warm waffle that would be appropriate to dunk into this coffee.
La Candelaria has been a component of our Streetlevel blend for many years. It is excellent for those who want lower acidity, higher sweetness, and a consistent experience throughout as it cools. No surprises with this coffee, just consistently good.

Shortly southwest of Antigua, on the eastern slopes of the massive Volcan Acatenango, lies the small municipality of Alotenango. Before the value of specialty coffee was realized, coffee from Alotenango would be sold and blended with the name “Antigua” to profit from the region’s premium. Coffees from Alotenango are a micro-region of their own, characterized by their volcanic topography and proximity to the Caribbean sea.
This year’s selection of coffee from La Candelaria was assembled through the extensive process of evaluating “day-lots” from the estate. A day-lot can represent anything from a plot or location on the farm to a specific day of harvest.
