Mild acidity and fresh key lime greet you on the first sip. The body is rich and nutty—all encapsulated in a structured finish—creating balance with each drop.
Jose Alvarado is great for those who enjoyed Santa Rosa a couple of years ago and want something delicious on a batch brew or by-the-cup servings.

Farmlevel Story
Farmlevel
Eponymous home to the tallest mountain in Costa Rica, Chirripo is historically not a specialty coffee-growing region. This territory is one of the least traveled coffee sectors in Costa Rica with its rocky slopes and “end of the road” feel.
Jose Eladio Alvarado Abarca inherited his 19-hectare farm El Higueron from his grandfather in 2010, just in time for Costa Rica’s micro-mill revolution. Jose began seeing coffee prices drop so low that he could no longer appropriately tend to his farm and meet the growing demand for higher quality. In 2014 Jose and his wife Annie opened their mill, Imperio Rojo. This investment brought down their cost of production and assisted in improving their coffee’s quality. With gaining profits over the past six years, Imperio Rojo has invested in a dry mill and raised beds, allowing for consistent quality and opportunities for future experimentations.
