At first, what seems like an equal balance of blood orange and brown sugar transitions into a spice-like density. The body is similar to fresh juice, and the mouthfeel is a syrupy, concentrated sweetness. All of which are enveloping and unique to the coffee’s terroir.
Returning for a second year, Jesus Javier is our sole offering from Mexico. Enjoy its unique balance of acidity, earthy spices, and mild florals in the finish.

Farmlevel Story
Farmlevel
Veracruz is home to the first coffee plant ever seen in Mexico, and it is home to our latest offering from Mexico. Over 30 years ago, Jesus’s father purchased his farm, El Guayabal. He bought the land to grow agricultural products, starting with guava trees. Guava trees can yield a high production each year, and since they only need 3-4 years to produce more fruit, they are a good, dependable product.
Today, Jesus grows sugar cane and coffee on his farm, comprising 5.6 hectares of land. He began by growing commercial coffee to ensure a market for his product. In 2019, Jesus transitioned from commercial cultivation to specialty coffee to produce higher-scoring cups with the hope of earning more for his lots. His goal was to help showcase premium offerings from Mexico as larger-scale production of specialty coffee is still in development. Because his farm’s infrastructure is still expanding, cherries are only picked and washed at the farm. From there, the harvest travels to a local organization for processing.
