Day Job:Chief Creative Officer, theAudience
How do you live with Verve? I guess I’m a bit of a raconteur; exploring the world around me, and telling stories about what I find.
How did you discover this passion? When I was a kid my family moved from country to country and I was forced to adapt quickly to unfamiliar environments. I learned to explore from an early age.
Tell us about your last adventure:I’ve spent a lot of time in Detroit lately and I’ve grown to love it. When a city has been utterly ravaged it’s amazing to see the rebirth - green shoots poking through the sidewalk. It’s early days but the energy is palpable.
Tell us about an adventure you have yet to have? I always have a ‘Top Five’ list. Number one changes from time to time, but right now it’s Lalibela in the Ethiopian Highlands. It’s supposed to be where the Ark of the Covenant is hidden, and the churches there are dug out of the rock, from the steeple down, so that nothing is visible at ground level.
When was the last time you conquered a fear?Generally speaking I’m pretty dumb and not scared of much. The only thing I’m afraid of is answering my phone. I’d rather ride across town and speak in person. The good thing about the digital age is that I’ll probably never have to conquer that one.
If you could do anything for a full year, money's no object, what would you do? I’d hunker down in a cabin in Joshua Tree, and write a novel that starts to make sense of it all.
Where do you Verve?3rd Street//Mid City, Los Angeles.
What do you love about this neighborhood? My office is next door. I can satisfy all of my vices on this stretch of 3rd Street; Swedish chocolate from Sokerbit, lobster tacos and beer at Blue Plate Oysterette, fish tacos and margaritas at Mercado….and a caffeine fix here of course.
Signature drink: Flavored Latte… drink-in, but in a to-go cup (keeps it hot for longer).
We believe the coffee experience is our responsibility from seed to cup. Coffee is our craft, our ritual, our passion. It drives us and inspires us. With this simple truth and responsibility we are bridging the gap from farmlevel to streetlevel. We are verve. Made in santa cruz.
