2016 Verve Gesha Offerings
This year’s Gesha Collection consists of three Panamanian coffees that honor the variety’s deliciously unique flavor, as well as the dedicated craftsmanship of its producers.
Native to Ethiopia, the Gesha variety was originally introduced to Central America in the 1960’s because of its disease resistant qualities. However, the rare micro-climate and rich soil of Boquete unlocked a remarkable quality of flavor that would not be recognized until the early 2000’s when the variety garnered the industry’s attention and praise. Gesha then rapidly developed into the luminary that it is now, and continues to impress year after year.
Our Gesha Collection guarantees front-row seats to a formidable trio of carefully sourced and roasted Gesha-variety coffees. We sought to curate a set that would highlight a diversity in flavor, and celebrate the serendipitous union of exceptional variety and cultivation practices.
Sporting a trademark vibrancy that is not easily matched; this year’s lot carries perfume-like aromatics, a key-lime undertone, and a champagne-like body that serves as a fitting metaphor in celebration of outstanding Farmlevel impact.
The juicy acidity and underlying florality of rose hip is teamed-up with pomegranate-like fruit notes in this returning, honey-processed “old-vine” gesha selection.
Luito’s farm yields a truly superb coffee named in his honor, and touting a harmonious balance of ripe watermelon, honeysuckle florals, and unique exoticism.
